Who is Dominick Saillant ?

Over 30 years of expertise in sports communications.
Dominick Saillant was hired as Director of Communications for Hockey Canada in September 2020. In addition to participating in various events with the Canadian National Team on the hockey operations and the events side, he was assigned the role of Senior Consultant, Communications, in August 2024 as well as becoming the organization's representative for Quebec, and is part of the corporate communications management group.
Dominick worked for the NHL Montreal Canadiens’ communications department for 24 seasons, from 1996 to 2020, including more than ten years as Director of Media Relations. He was responsible for the day-to-day management of the club's media relations activities.
Dominick began his professional career with the Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League when they entered the NHL in 1992, where he spent four seasons before joining the Montreal Canadiens in August 1996.

Dominick is not new to Hockey Canada. He was selected to be part of the men’s national team communications group at the 2014 Sochi Olympics, experiencing being a member of the gold-medal winning team. Still in his role as press relations representative, he was also a member of the Canadian national team that won gold at the World Cup of Hockey presented in Toronto in 2016. In addition, Dominick participated in the World Hockey Championships held in Slovakia in 2019, as well as the World Junior Hockey Championships in 2020, 2021 and 2022. Dominick was also recruited to the National Hockey League's public relations staff on three occasions, including the 1996 Stanley Cup Final.
As a member of the Montreal Canadiens, Dominick participated nine times in the Grand Défi Pierre Lavoie, a 1,000 km cycling marathon to promote healthy lifestyle habits among young people and support research into orphaned hereditary diseases through the GO Foundation's grants and scholarships program.
Originally from Montmorency, a suburb of Quebec City, he holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Ottawa (1990).
Why le Fait Saillant?
Fait Saillant is a popular French expression that is heard daily in the media, particularly during sporting events, to refer to decisive moments of a match or event.
Saillant is also my last name.
When I had the idea of starting my own consulting business, it was easy to come up with the name and logo : « Le Fait Saillant ».
